Goodie Turns Five and the Sixlets Turn Yellow

Remember the Sixlets?

(Paragraph below from a September 2016 Facebook post)

Sitting on a shelf in our kitchen are three glass jars full of sixlets. They each represent one of my littles, Goodie, Liza and Judah, and how many weeks each have left until they turn 18. Every week we pull one out and say a special prayer over each child. My littles look forward to it and love to pray for each other too.
It's a precious reminder of how numbered our days are. Of course we still get to care for them beyond 18 but you get the picture. Pretty special huh!?
Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. -Psalm 90:12

There are 936 weeks (give or take) from birth to 18th birthday.  Tuff got the idea to break them up into categories.  One color for 0-5 years old, one color for 5-13, and one color for 13-18.  Goodie's first color was white.  She turned five April 1st and her white Sixlets are gone!  Oh goodness.....or as we say in our house, Oh Goodie Goodie gumdrops!

Goodie holding her last white Sixlet.  Last week being four years old.

Based on the major transition in Sixlet land, we gave Goodie a major celebration for turning five.

101 people rolled through our house to be exact.  We took pictures of all of it of course but I'll just give you a few highlights.

Jewels was the theme.

She had a jewelry making station and made a few examples in advance.

This room had a cookie decorating activity.  We just let them have at it.

Hanging pictures, of course anchored by jewels, of each of her birthdays.

Goodie chose the menu of mostly marshmallows and some fruit.

The movie room.  Thanks Oma for the early birthday gift of Moana.

Oh and lets not forget the jewel tattoo activity.

Our neighbors Elizabeth and Victoria.

Goodie admiring a birthday gift from her friend Grace she so perfectly named Jewel the eagle.
Side note: I transitioned a few years ago from mainly calling Grace "Grace" to calling her by her middle name, "Goodie" because of my friend's daughter also being a Grace.

Another sweet gift.  She asked for a rose from Merval and he delivered.

Even the One Heart Warriors came.  We love them!

These two are only a month a part so showing off their ages.
Abby and Goodie.

Goodie's teacher Ms. Ashley came to her party.  She was delighted.

Ma'am and Papa (and cuzzies, aunties and uncles) came to make the day extra special.

Did I mention the marshmallows were a hit?  The only leftovers were the Lucky Charms, sans mallows.

Post party crash.

You might have wondered why Sixlets to represent the 936 weeks?  They are cheaper than marbles!
